Changes to IR35

IR35 was due to be reformed for the private sector and charities on 6 April 2020. However, it was recently announced that due to the COVID-19 crisis, this reform would be pushed back until 6 April 2021.

This complex piece of legislation is being brought in to close a tax loophole – however, due to its complexities, it has the potential to cause challenges for contractors and businesses working with them. The postponement of the reform means that contractors remain in a strong position to help business. This is important, as contractors are perfectly placed to help in crisis situations.
